It took me a while to realize the purpose of my Physical Project. But I finally realized what it was about. It was finding my courage to keep going at what I am doing and pursue it as a career. One of the things I admired and learned from my mentor is that no matter the obstacle that it poses, if you're doing what you love, then everything else can fall into place. For example, him working in other areas when he isn't on tour to keep money coming in. It wont be easy. But I realize that there is nothing more that I can possibly ever love than theatre. In 2 years, after I get my associates degree in Early Child Development and taking dance, singing and acting classes, I plan to go to New York and try my luck in the city. Yeah, yeah. It's a big leap. But if I didn't have a goal, I'd be stuck in this slump. Until then, I'm going to keep auditioning and taking classes. My physical project is now complete.

Cast list
Well, I didn't get Maureen......but I got Mimi. :D who the hell could've predicted that out of all the pool of talent...?!?! I didn't...wow.
Call Backs: More Like Reality Checks
April 22 6 hours
Well, call backs today.... Was freaking vigorous. Had to learn the this crazy fast dance from Grease. How the hell did I pull that one off without much training? The world may never know. As I predicted, girls were made to sing Take Me or Leave Me. Sang that song without sheet music, OHYEAAAH. That was really exciting. After everything and when after everyone sang through it, the director asked me to sing it again for him. He said he wanted to hear my belt. Which I think is a good sign? Sang Seasons of Love no problem. Over all, it was draining. I came home with my make up smudged and my shirt with pit stains.
And now the hardest part....the anticipation....three days til cast list.
Character Study: RENT and Callbacks
April 21 - 3Hours
I decided to do some character study today. I haven't gotten a call back yet. I feel pretty crappy. But, what better way to make myself feel more crappy that drowning myself in RENT. I decided to do some character study incase I got called back. I studied 4 different characters: Angel, Mimi, Joanne, Maureen. Well, I learned something. I was born to play Maureen. She's a fierce lesbian/not lesbian diva that I definitely love and relate to. I think I write down Maureen as character of choice yesterday. I know Take Me or Leave Me by heart. Hopefully we got to do it for callbacks....speaking of call backs....where's mine?
Auditions
April 20th
I went to audition for RENT in an open cast call in the east bay. This took about 7 hours. It was really intense and terrifying because of the amount of talent that I had to compete against. It was a wake up call that,if I wanted to continue with this. I would have to take up lessons. Met a girl who was crazy talented and super trained to kill in the theater game. I sang New Philosophy from Charlie Brown. I thought I did horribly. I was the only one who sang an uptempo song. Everyone did a ballad..how awkward.. They're supposed to call us tomorrow about the callbacks. But....I doubt I'm getting called back. Let's cross our fingers and see.

During this project I kept a journal. I became too busy to post of blogger. But dated my journal entries.
March 4-9 15 Hours in total
I was going haywire these days. From March 4-7, I was prepping for my last high school performance. This year, we did a Broadway Review. This was a pretty awesome experience, since I have never done anything like it in the span of my miniscule career. Anyways, I was busy prepping for those final days of performances. This year, I had the opportunity to portray the Puerto Rican bombshell Anita. I loooooove her. or..maybe I just loved Rita Moreno. But either way, I enjoyed myself. It took a lot of energy to play a girl like that. Her personality is very similar to a firecracker that never stops to burn. The amount of energy that I exhausted during the dance number in 'America'was beyond the stars. Singing and Dancing and keeping a character has never been that hard. By the end of it all, I found myself passed out on the prop table.. It was crazy. Not to mention, this was only a high school performance, this won't be anything compared to the real world. Get ready for me.
